About Me
About Me
Hey, I'm Sascha Markert. I’m a learned software dev turned DevOps engineer, but really, I’m a jack of all trades. I’ve got more tech at home than some small companies, run a small business, and while energy prices are making me rethink my life choices, it’s still fun (most days). I’m into more tech and hobby stuff than is probably good for me, especially 3D printing. Honestly, my printers are more for modding than actual work—rarely see them running long enough to finish a project.
In the corporate Linux world, I’ve seen or worked with just about everything related to Linux and open-source. From setting up and supporting massive Nextcloud instances to leading transitions from closed-source to open-source software (mail servers, various software, you name it), and even moving things to the cloud with Kubernetes.
I didn’t want to just be the “software dev” forever. Software development is thankless, and I always had one foot in hardware anyway. So, I made the leap into DevOps, which, as someone with AHDS, was a perfect fit. I like juggling multiple things at once to keep the stress levels up. Linear, "finish this feature now and don’t touch anything else," just isn’t my style.
I’m the guy people come to when they can’t find a solution. There’s always a way, and while it’s nice when the solution is pretty, it can get a little messy if that’s what it takes. My work is also my hobby (sometimes a bit too much), so I have to force myself to make clear cuts between work hours and downtime. But it helps me learn fast, get stuff done, and have fun while doing it. I’m easygoing, solution-oriented, and always ready to “get shit done”.
Feel free to reach out through my LinkedIn if you need anything—or if you just want to talk tech and chaos.
